January Update

January 29, 2013

January is almost at an end and we haven’t updated in a couple of weeks, so…

On the 18th we played at Oakengates’ The Duke. The snow was coming down in a big way, so we didn’t expect much of a turnout, but we were very happy to be proven wrong. We set up just inside the door and had a great gig right in the faces of the audience, rather than being tucked away at the back as we would be normally.

This weekend saw us a bit busier. Our first proper gig at The Malthouse was, again, hit by snow, but a respectable crowd turned up including WeeMann’s neighbour who, rather than gigging in Shrewsbury himself, decided a meal with his lady followed by being hit in the face by Scruffy the Stunt-Dog was a better use of his time.

We agree.

On Saturday we travelled to Coton, just outside Whitchurch, to The Dog & Bull. A pub full of dining customers ensured and audience and the gig was a resounding success. We’re hoping to return later in the year as well as playing at their sister pub, The Albion in Wem.

Sunday was a return to The Wrekin, scene of our first, unofficial, outing a year ago. We’ve developed a great deal in one short year and the audience is growing with each visit.

On that note, don’t forget our First Birthday Party on Sat 23 February at Newport’s Cosy Hall. We’ve been discussing things to do and you won’t be disappointed with the results. Tickets are available at The Book Nook in Newport, The Smash Room in Ketley, via the band members, or by e-mailing us at info@LostThePlotBand.co.uk

Tickets are £4 each and there will be jelly and cake as well as a fully licenced bar.

PARTY!!!

This week we’re back off to Aberyswyth to Rummers, scene of our meeting with Suggs a few months ago. See you when we get home again.

Updated Website

January 13, 2013

We’ve started updating the website for 2013. You’ll see that we’ve changed the design, but we’ve also tidied a few things up, moved them around and generally had a bit of a spring clean.

There are one or two new bits (with a couple more to come soon), including a new photo gallery and a Gig Venue Map on the gigs page, so there’s no excuse for not turning up at a gig saying you didn’t know where it is. In actual fact, it’s an aid for us, as we’re all getting a little older and we forget where the hell we’re going sometimes.

You’ll also see our new video, filmed on location at Newport’s premier bookshop, The Book Nook.

As announced yesterday, we’re hosting our First Birthday Party on Saturday 23rd February at Cosy Hall in Newport. Tickets are £4 each and further details can be found at www.LostThePlotBand.co.uk/party.

This Friday we’ll be at The Duke Of York in Oakengates, so pop along and see some stupid.

As announced yesterday at our gig at Newport’s The Book Nook, February 23rd sees our First Birthday Party.

PARTY!!!

We are putting on a special event at Newport’s Cosy Hall. In the main it will be a gig, full of the stupidity you would expect from Lost The Plot, but there will be more besides, including cake, jelly and party games.

You can keep up to date with details at www.LostThePlotBand.co.uk/party

Tickets for the event are priced at £4 and are available by e-mailing us at info@LostThePlotBand.co.uk

Please spread the word far and wide!

Back To Shrewsbury

January 8, 2013

There’s no doubt about it, Sunday was tiring.  At 10 AM we found ourselves in a cold muddy field in Newport to play while people ran around in circles in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research:

After a swift pint and some curry cooked by our good friend Quinny (landlord of Newport’s The Phez, he of the bear suit in the video), we travelled over to Ironbridge to play at the pub’s staff Xmas party.

Through the two gigs we tried out three or four new songs which you’ll be able to see in our upcoming gigs and we were joined for both by our pet keyboardist, Sir Simon Prattle. Si will be joining us for the occasional gig throughout 2013 – check back here for news.

This Friday, the 11th, we’ll be back at The Old Post Office in Shrewsbury, so come along if you’re in the area.

If you’ve come here via our website, you may have already seen our In Rehearsal video, otherwise sit back and enjoy the following, a record of our secret rehearsal session from last week.

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2013

Happy New Year from Lost The Plot.

We trust you didn’t overdo it over the Christmas period.  We all had a nice quiet time with our families followed by a wonderful curry evening at Clatter’s with our wives and offspring and are now ready and raring to go in 2013.

We’ve added a last minute booking to the calendar for this Sunday.  We’ve been asked to perform at Newport’s January Jog in Shuker Field, a charity run around a muddy field in Shropshire.  All we can say is that it will be cold, wet and muddy and we may have Sir Simon Prattle returning on keyboards.

That evening we’ll be playing at a private party, so our next public gig is on Friday 11th at the Old Post Office In Shrewsbury, followed by The Duke Of York in Oakengates the following Friday.  You can find these venues on the map below.
